In a Nutshell:
We are seeking a Warehouse Operations Support Manager who will be accountable for managing and enhancing the Warrington Warehouse Operations, providing direct support to the Operations Director by ensuring all key operational documentation, processes, and compliance records are current, well-maintained, and audit-ready. This includes oversight of ISO 9001 standards, warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Health & Safety documentation.
In the role you will be responsible for measuring the effectiveness of warehouse operations using a variety of tools and performance metrics, aligned with the agreed annual budget. A key focus is on improving housekeeping standards and safety across both warehouse sites. Additionally, this role supports the Operations Director in delivering the company’s core objectives of Efficiency, Productivity, and Safety, ensuring operational requirements are met on time.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
DELIVERY
- Responsible for conducting regular stock checks of Product Codes to ensure no variances to the system's shown stock.
- Ensure any stock variances are investigated and corrective actions taken.
- Ensure Picking and Packing Operations are carried out efficiently and accurately, and audit where necessary.
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales teams to align delivery planning with customer expectations and changing order priorities.
- Support the continuous improvement of delivery processes, identifying inefficiencies and recommending or implementing changes to enhance performance.
- Responsible for ensuring that all Waste is disposed of from the Site in line with the WEE Directive and approved Waste Contractors are used.
- Monitor and improve delivery performance, including on-time dispatch rates and error reduction, to support customer satisfaction and operational targets.
QUALITY
- Coordinate internal audits and assist in external audit preparation.
- Maintain and review ISO9001 documentation and quality systems.
- Work collaboratively with managers to align documented processes with current practices.
- Maintain central document control and version tracking for all key operational processes.
- Ensure all warehouse SOPs, work instructions, and training records are accurate and accessible.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring quality issues, such as picking inaccuracies, damage, or customer complaints, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Engage with customers or internal teams to resolve quality-related issues and gather feedback to drive service improvements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the warehouse operations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the company’s returns procedure.
- Ensure Goods Collection / Trade Counter service provided is of high standard of quality.
- Support the Operations Director in achieving certification goals and maintaining regulatory compliance in all warehouse activities.
COST
- To continuously improve the warehouse process to seek continuous improvement in productivity/quality.
- Manage departmental activity and expenditure within agreed financial targets to contribute to the overall site effectiveness
- Responsible for management/scheduling of Inbound Deliveries to support Sales Orders.
- Collaborate with suppliers and transport providers to resolve delays or discrepancies with inbound shipments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities within warehouse operations while maintaining service and quality standards.
SAFETY
- Oversee documentation of Health & Safety processes to ensure legal compliance and operational safety.
- Provide a Warehouse environment that operates efficiently to achieve off loading, picking, packing and despatch of our products to achieve our targets for the satisfaction of our customers.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety Regulations at all levels through facilitating and planning training, communication, risk assessments and audits.
- Create a safe working environment within the Warrington Warehouses for all warehouse operatives.
- Foster a strong safety culture by encouraging employee engagement, ownership of safe practices, and continuous safety awareness.
- Regularly review and update safety protocols, signage, and PPE requirements to reflect current risks and operational changes.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with people at all levels, ensuring regular communication with Managers, Sales and Accounts Team, and support functions.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff, fostering a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manager – daily formal and informal contact, including submission of reports.
- Conduct daily formal and informal engagement with direct reports to monitor performance, provide feedback, and support operational success.
- Monitor Warehouse staff absence and provide corrective actions when necessary.
- Liaise daily with internal teams, including Warehouse, Sales, and Accounts staff, to raise issues, coordinate actions, and proactively resolve or prevent problems.
- Support team wellbeing and engagement, including monitoring attendance, identifying development needs, and applying corrective or supportive actions where necessary.

- Our Warehouse Operations Support Manager will have/be:
- Experience with ISO9001 or other quality systems in an operational environment.
- Experience of working within a high volume warehouse.
- Experience of working as a member of process improvement activities against a clear set of objectives.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and work cross functionally.
- An understanding and use of Quality Principles, Continuous Improvement, 5S and other associated tools & techniques.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Understanding of Budgetary controls and basic understanding of warehouse measures.
- Proficient in document control and compliance standards.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and work cross-functionally.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Computer-literate, being fully conversant with MS Excel, Word, and experience of DTX / Perito would be distinct advantage.
- Effective Presentation Skills.
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership.

- Professional in approach, and able to lead by example, acting with tact and diplomacy.
